چکیده

Energy efficiency, real-time response, and data transmission reliability are important objectives during networked systems design. This paper aims to develop an efficient task mapping scheme balance these but conflicting objectives. To achieve this goal, tasks triplicated enhance mapped on the wireless nodes of with Dynamic Voltage Frequency Scaling (DVFS) capabilities reduce energy consumption while still meeting constraints. Our contributions include mathematical formulation problem as mixed-integer programming that balances node consumption, enhancing reliability, under Compared State-of-the-Art (SoA) , a joint-design is considered in paper, where DVFS, triplication, allocation, scheduling optimized concurrently. find optimal solution, original linearized, decomposition-based method proposed. The optimality proposed proved rigorously. Furthermore, heuristic based greedy algorithm designed computation time. methods evaluated compared through series simulations. results show triplication-based average achieves 24.84% runtime reduction 28.62% saving SoA methods.

Optimized Slowdown in Real-Time Task Systems via Geometric Programming

In [1], Jejurikar and Gupta investigated energy savings due to optimal slowdown of periodic tasks in real-time task systems, where tasks have varying power characteristics and task deadlines are less than the periods. The authors presented a bisection method for computing near-optimal constant slowdown factors, when all the tasks are assigned the same slowdown factor. For the case when tasks ha...

Real-Time Task Scheduling for Energy-Aware Embedded Systems

We present a new approach for scheduling workloads containing periodic tasks in real-time systems. The proposed approach minimizes the total energy consumed by the task set and guarantees that the deadline for every periodic task is met. As embedded software becomes a larger component of system-on-a-chip design, energy management using the operating system becomes increasingly important. We pre...

Dual-Mode r-Reliable Task Model for Flexible Scheduling in Reliable Real-Time Systems

Recent research in real-time systems has much focused on new task models for flexible scheduling and fault-tolerant real-time systems. In this paper, we propose a novel task model for the purpose of flexible scheduling in reliable real-time systems. In the proposed dualmode r-reliable task model, a task periodically releases fast mode jobs or reliable mode jobs with the constraint that reliable...

Communication and migration energy aware task mapping for reliable multiprocessor systems

Heterogeneous multiprocessor systems-on-chip (MPSoCs) are emerging as a promising solution in deep sub-micron technology nodes to satisfy design performance and power requirements. However, shrinking transistor geometry and aggressive voltage scaling are negatively impacting the dependability of these MPSoCs by increasing the chances of failures. This paper proposes an offline (design-time) tas...

Task Scheduling in Energy Harvesting Real-time Embedded Systems

Harvesting energy from the environment is very desirable for many emerging applications that use embedded devices. Energy harvesting also known as energy scavenging enables us to guarantee quasi-perpetual system operation for wireless sensors, medical implants, etc. without requiring human intervention which is normally necessary for recharging batteries in classical battery-operated systems. N...
